Iceflow on the Towy
This was a food shopping trip into Carmarthen, on foot, because of inclement weather. Whilst crossing the footbridge over the river Towy what a surprise to see the surface of the river covered in ice. This point is about seven miles from the estuary and the water is tidal. The flow was on the turn, an action that was breaking up sheets of ice formed on fresh water further upriver, flushing it out to sea. These condition occur very infrequently, fortunately with camera to hand I was able to record the moment. Moral of the story – always have your camera with you.
