Laugharne Castle stands on a low ridge by the side of the Coran stream. Built as a coastal stronghold overlooking the estuary of the river Taf,. Originally an earth and timber structure it was remodelled by the de Brian family into a more defensible castle like construction that included a large rectangular hall within. Much of this work still survives. The structure was damaged during the Civil War 1644 and was subsequently broken down to prevent further use.
